NEW COFFEES — ENJOY THE WINTER ☕️

This week, we’ve brought in a fresh selection of coffees, all roasted by some of our favourite roasters from Copenhagen.

POMA

We really love POMA. What stands out to us is how much attention they pay to roast development. Their approach is all about achieving clarity and cleanliness without sacrificing flavour intensity.

La Divisa — Castillo

This is our second time bringing in this coffee, and we’re happy to have it on our filter menu. We love its expressive fruit character, sweetness, and the complexity brought by its fermentation process.

Volcán Azul — Sudan Rume

Simply a Costa Rican Sudan Rume. And that’s already enough to make us curious.

We think Sudan Rume is particularly enjoyable during winter. Its expressive sweetness, complexity and distinctive floral character make it a very special coffee for this season.

PROLOG

Prolog is one of our most important roasting partners. We genuinely enjoy having their coffees as part of our everyday coffee routine.

La Indonesia — Bourbon Sidra Natural

La Indonesia is a farm in Colombia, and we’re very happy to bring their coffees back for the second time.

If you enjoy sweet, fruity coffees with notes of dark chocolate and a slightly boozy finish, this bourbon sidra is definitely worth trying.

La Indonesia — Colombia Washed

Another coffee from La Indonesia, this time a washed lot.

A clean expression of its origin, with lively tropical and red fruit notes. A different side of the farm, but equally exciting.

El Paraíso — Caturra Natural

Another Colombian coffee, featuring a slow fermentation process.

Expect something a little funky, with layers of complexity, a more intense sweetness and plenty of character.

Kigari AA — Kenya

Kenya is one of our favourite coffee-producing countries. Its expressive terroir creates profiles that are so distinctive and often unforgettable.

This is a classic expression of Kenyan coffee. Expect smooth, lingering acidity, with notes of red fruits and pomegranate.

Juanachute — Washed Catuaí

If you prefer something rounder and more comforting, with notes of nuts and caramel, this is a great everyday choice.

Don’t worry, it is still clean and well-defined. This washed Catuaí reflects the region’s classic balanced cup profile, as well as the family’s commitment to quality and sustainable farming.

✨ Three beautiful coffees are arriving at the end of October

This month, we’re excited to welcome three exceptional coffees from One Half Coffee Roastery, the specialty coffee brand founded by the Malaysian Barista Champion.

One Half is known for showcasing origin character with remarkable clarity—clean, sweet, and vibrant cups that truly express each terroir.

🌿 Ethiopia Alo Sky Project Natural
A rare collaboration between Tri-Up Coffee and Alo Coffee in Ethiopia. Grown at over 2,400 meters above sea level, the Sky Project encourages slower cherry maturation, resulting in greater sweetness, complexity, and remarkable flavor intensity.

🌹 Bolivia Don Carlos Geisha Natural
We’re always fascinated by what Bolivia’s unique terroir can bring to Geisha. Expect elegant rose florals layered with rich notes of blueberry and dried strawberry, creating a vibrant and expressive cup.

🌸 Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda Geisha Washed
We selected this coffee because it perfectly reflects what we love about a classic washed Panamanian Geisha. Delicate floral aromatics meet refined sweetness and juicy fruit. Beyond its famous jasmine-like bouquet, Panamanian Geisha often possesses exceptional natural sugar sweetness. We hope this cup either introduces—or rekindles—your very first impression of this iconic coffee.

Available at Background Coffee at the end of October. We can’t wait to share these beautiful coffees with you. ☕️

POMA – how coffee can be grown under changing conditions

POMA is a coffee research and cultivation company based in Copenhagen. Through controlled trials in Denmark and at partner farms around the world, we study how coffee can be grown under changing conditions. The coffees we roast are a direct result of that work.

La Divisa – EF2 Natural Castillo
A vibrant, wine-like acidity layered with tropical fruits and dark berries.

Muthuaini – Kenya
A classic Kenyan profile with juicy acidity and expressive fruit sweetness.

Las Brisas – Bourbon Aji
An elegant and intensely floral cup, revealing notes of jasmine, lavender, and elderflower with a beautifully perfumed finish.
